    The Network Strategy Manager will be instrumental in defining Smithfield’s supply chain strategies and driving them towards execution. This role will support the entire supply chain network by simplifying our current go to market product flows, realizing cost savings company-wide. The role will be responsible for hands-on development of optimization models using Llamasoft Supply Chain Guru and the data model using Llamasoft Data Guru. This tool will be one of the many analytics software to provide strategic and tactical solutions to manage spend, minimize risk and optimize efficient execution across the fulfillment organization.

    Responsibilities

    Responsibilities and tasks are written as follows:

     

    • Enhances, manages and becomes a SuperUser of the Llamasoft software and functionality.
    • Finds hidden inefficiencies in the current supply chain processes and tests outcomes using simulation technology.
    • Balances supply and demand in order to identify the lowest cost solution to satisfy seasonal demand, while satisfying production, warehousing and transportation capacity constraints.
    • Optimizes inventories to assist distribution team understand where inventory buffers should be placed to meet service level goals while minimizing inventory holding costs.
    • Requires a high level of skill managing, manipulating and analyzing large amounts of data in Data Guru, Excel, Sequel, or other data management software. 
    • Responsible for minimizing cost and risk in efforts to improve service within the Distribution team.
    • Develops cost analysis models and frameworks to support, prioritize and influence the supply chain team and other networks in the organization.
    • Highlights and drives change through the organization through use of data and appropriate systems to manage cost and service.
    • Fully visualizes and understands current distribution and supply chain operations in order to consider alternative models to effectively plan for the future.
    • Works cross functionally to ensure successful implementation of optimization and analytic models developed in this group.
    • Works with various departments to maintain industry benchmarks.
    • Evaluates other network/customer programs to ensure efficiency and makes the most cost effective decisions.

    Qualifications

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.     • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited four-year college or university in Supply Chain Management, Business Management, Accounting, Finance or a closely related field and 5+ years of relevant work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience, required.
    • Master’s Degree, preferred.
    • Background in logistics, transportation, & supply chain, preferred.
    • Advanced abilities in Excel and capable of manipulating large amounts of data.
    • 1-2 years of experience using the LLamasoft Supply Chain Guru, preferred.
    • Lean training is preferred.
    • Demonstrated ability to influence the organization at the most senior levels.
    • Ability to work effectively under short time constraints.
    • Ability to effectively present information to all levels of the Company.
    • Strong planning, organization and execution skills.
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
    • Up to 30% travel required.
