  • Overview

    The Wal-Mart Replenishment Analyst is responsible for ensuring product availability at the Wal-Mart Distribution Centers (DCs) and Stores to maximize the Point-of-Sale (POS) opportunities for Wal-Mart while controlling the Markup and Markdown (MUMD) costs. This role ensures the accuracy of the Wal-Mart POS forecast which drives the correct order quantities. Maintain key performance indicators at target levels and performs analyses of items’ in-stock performance to determine root cause issues and solutions to improve performance. Contributors in this role have the skillset and ability to identify opportunities, articulate solutions, and take corrective action to drive improvement. This person is experienced in and capable of managing two of the following business areas: Fresh, Packaged, Smoked, or Sam’s, and is able to assist in the training of new employees in two of these areas. The Wal-Mart Replenishment Analyst will facilitate constant communication between Category Planners and the Wal-Mart Replenishment Managers and all efforts are dedicated to improving the business experience with Smithfield Foods and supporting sales growth. All references to Wal-Mart includes Sam’s program as a part of the process where applicable.


    Sales Forecasting

    • Uses SAP, Wal-Mart (WM) Retail Link, and Excel to establish order forecasts to correctly generate WM order requirements and demand plans for operations.
    • Determines root cause problems on forecast accuracy issues and establishes corrective actions that are intended to elevate service levels and/or drive efficiencies in the supply chain. 

    Product Availability

    • Manages WM In-stocks at the DC and store levels and balances against MUMD cost.
    • Determines root cause problems and puts forth solutions to WM Replenishment to rectify the issues. 

    Order Correction

    • Reviews all WM orders that are generated against requirements, forecast and demand plan and provides corrections as needed.
    • Assists Category Planners in disposing of long inventory positions based acceptability by WM.

    Communication and Meetings

    • Facilitates communication with the WM Replenishment team and Category Planners.
    • Acts as the lead point of contact for business areas.
    • Participates and contributes to meetings with sales managers and Wal-Mart replenishment managers.
    • Leads monthly and quarterly meetings with WM replenishment.

    Other Duties

    • Assists with new product set up and performance tracking.

    • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Business Administration, Marketing or Supply Chain and 3+ years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
    • Bachelor's Degree, preferred.
    • Advanced analytical skills; able to report on performance metrics, interpret data, and clearly and concisely articulate the results.
    • Proficient knowledge of Excel, Retail Link and SAP.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Able to work in fast paced and changing environment, while keeping a customer-focused and detail oriented approach to completing tasks.
    • Ability to interact with all levels of staff.
    • Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.
    • Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
