  • Overview

    This position is responsible for managing the sales of rendered products for the Smithfield International Group (SFIG). This person will work for the International channel and with the Smithfield operations and Sales for product development, new sku’s, claims as well as coordinating production and sales orders with domestic rendered product management. This person would represent Smithfield International in trade and business shows and meetings where rendered products are involved.

    Responsibilities

    • Prospect and sell rendered products to all opportunities internationally for SFIG.
    • Coordinate with the domestic teams including: Product Sales, Operations/Production, and Regulatory/QA.
    • Develop a thorough understanding of markets and regulations internationally for rendered products assisting the plants for eligibility, APHIS and specific country requirements. Assist in keeping documents updated to maintain eligibility for export.
    • Understand product specifications and develops new products or packaging for the international markets.
    • Handles pricing and inventory for the SFIG’s sales team and is responsible for the rendered sales volume for their assigned region.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited four-year college or university and 5+ years’ experience in the food or rendered industry and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Must have sales and/or product management experience.
    • Knowledge of SAP, Word, and inventory software.
    • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
    • Capable of communicating and expressing ideas clearly and concisely, both written and verbal.
    • Must have strong negotiation skills.
    • Knowledge of APHIS or USDA standards and regulations.
    • Must be able to travel 40% of the time.
